But at the same time, it has antidepressant effects because it increases serotonin (but very little from what I understand). You might want to try adding an AD as mentioned if it continues to make you more depressed
I took lithium many years ago in combination with other antidepressants (they kept trying to find the "right" one for me w/o side effects). I gained 70 pounds while taking lithium, my hands shook all the time, and it didn't seem to help my depression. I know it can be a miracle drug for many people, but I was certainly NOT one of them. Would never take it again.
