I had an experience with this almost two years back, during my Nardil trial. I was on 120mg/day (which my dentist was aware of). The day it was supposed to take place, I woke up at 4:00AM to rush down to the hospital and get the IV in, etc. The anaesthesiologist stopped by to let me know that they'd be putting me out soon and (lucky for me!!) I thought to ask him, "My dentist *did* mention I take an MAO-inhibitor, didn't he?" And of course he hadn't. Boy, was I pissed... All four teeth were hurting SO badly and I thought I'd finally get some relief, but then they decide to reschedule. Incompetent cretins. :-\
Anyway, I finally have it done two weeks later at another dentist's office. The whole process took less than 30 seconds -- his assistant just gave me about eight shots of Novacaine, then *yank* *yank* *yank* *yank*. All four were out and my mouth was stuffed full with gauze. Not unpleasant at all, really. Even better, he asked after we were through what *I* wanted for the pain! lol I figured I shouldn't push it *too* far, so I went with Darvon and Dilaudid. :-) I would've chosen Vicoprofen (or better yet, Norco), but I'm allergic to OTC painkillers.
Just make sure those hypodermics full of meperidine and epinephrine are *far* away from you during the whole procedure and you'll be fine! lol
