Zyprexa, normally given for schizophrenia, also induces sleep in many patients. For people that are bipolar or have serious depression it can also help by reducing delusional or obsessive thoughts. It is normally given in small doses to those patients like 2.5 mg or less. Taken at night it can cause psychological dependency after some time because of its relaxing effect. Zoloft can also work well for eliminating obsessive thoughts and reducing anxiety. If taken in the evening it can help some patients sleep while in others it may not work or could have the opposite effect. Ask your Dr or Therapist if it could replace Zyprexa in your situation. All the best of Luck! PS Zoloft can take several weeks before it has the desired effect.
