Prozac to Effexor in cases of OCD

Posted by James Hastie on February 11, 2004, at 11:59:42

Hi,

I'm relatively new here, so apologies if this has been covered in some long-ago thread.

I suffer from recurrent depression with OCD and have been on Prozac 60mg for a little over 3 years now. That's worked really well in limiting the episodes to under a week or so, but I am now in my sixth week of an episode. My therapist has raised the possibility that I am becoming tolerant to Prozac - has anyone else ever felt like that was happening to them?

Anyway, I am switching to Effexor over the next two weeks, about which I've heard many good things (and a few bad) - again, does anyone have any experiences of making this switch? Was the switch hell? Did it work?

Thanks in advance

James
