Purpose of low-dose Risperdal

Posted by Chuck P on September 26, 2003, at 22:56:16

I have a long history of moderate depression controlled well with SSRI's. However I switched from Paxil 6 months ago due to side-effects (constipation, restless legs). My therapist put me on Celexa which controlled the depression but left me feeling constant free-floating anxiety, so he then added a O.25mg/day dose of Risperdal, saying that dose is used for "mood stabilization". My anxiety waned slowly over the next month. My question: is this anxiety-control function for low-dose Risperdal a standard one? I can find no reference to using Risperdal as an add-on therapy to an SSRI.
