> Mirapex is called Mirapexin in the U.K., generic name pramipexole. It's a dopamine agonist normally used to treat Parkinson's disease. It works better for depression and lack of motivation than most other dopamine agonists (i.e. cabergoline, pergolide, amantadine) presumably because it targets D3 receptors more potently than the other agonists, which mostly target D2 and D4 receptors. Read my reponse to ross co's post above to see the effects I got from it.

I have Bipolar disorder, restless leg syndrome, and benign essential tremors. Of course, the bipolar meds that I take (Depakote, Seroquel, Lamictal, Prozac) make all of these conditions worse. I was sent to a neurologist and she put me on Mirapex .125 three times a day. In 3 days or so, my tremor had almost stopped, and was in fact better than I ever remember. The next day I was again tremor-free, but by 10am I was watching television and I noticed that one of the pictures on the wall was slowly melting down to the floor. Then when I looked back at the tv, it was melting. I have never done LSD or anything hallucinogenic, but I think it must be something like this! Anyway, it wasn't at all unpleasant...but there's no way I can through the rest of my life trippin' ;) The hallucinations stopped about 2 days later and, of course, the tremors came back. Since then, I have been put on Requip .5mg 3xday and it hasn't done anything at all for me (I'm coming up on my 5th week of taking it now). So, That's experience with both Mirapex and Requip. Good luck to you!Woof,
Dane =)
