Hey jrbecker,
Thanks for the fascinating article. I finally think I understand the mood disorder spectrum. What really cleared up the issues (after being so confused reading things here on babble or psycheducation.org) was reading Kay Jamison's books. Mood disorder's don't just go from unipolar on one side to bipolar on the other ... they are multidimensional. Everyone has various elements of anxiety, depression, mania, etc to some degree similar to personality with various degress of shyness, humor, obsessiveness, etc. Your just have to figure out how much of each "disorder" you have by observation and response to medication. I definately need a benzo for panic/anxiety, antidepressant for depression and I think I will add back a mild mood stablizer like lamictal for very mild cycling (like hypo-hypomania and mild-mild depression cyclics).
Later
Paul
PS of course you may know this already ... or totally disagree, but this what I have found through reading and life and listen to other babble members.
