Hi,
I just met with my doctor two days ago. According to him, magnesium orotate is the most absorbable. Magnesium chloride is the second most absorbable and much cheaper. He wrote me an Rx for 320g magnesium chloride crystals from which I will mix my own solution. Magnesium chloride is 26% magnesium, 74% chloride.
If you, like me, are using magnesium at pharmaceutical doses, absorbability is a big issue, since unabsorbed magnesium is highly hydrophilic (binding to water molecules) and causes diarrhea.
Also, I have heard that the traditional Japanese diet consists of 1:1 calcium to magnesium ratio, with none of the health problems associated with low calcium consumption.
Aloha
