Hi, I am new here so be kind.
I had taken Celexa for 2 years, and just since the end of October I was switched to Lexapro. I LOVE lexapro! I take 15mg/day. I also take Claratin D 24 hr.
When I saw my pdoc yesterday I told her that there was a 10# wt gain (no big deal) and this welt (itchy) on my eyelid and pimple looking stuff around my mouth and nose (sore and itchy). This has been there for at least 6 to 8 weeks and just keeps getting more prominent. I can't really attribute this to anything other change but the Lexapro. The package insert says rashes, but this isn’t like what I would call hives. It isn’t any place but on my face. Has any one else heard of this? My pdoc thinks that it might be a component of the 10mg pill so we are bumping up to 20 to see if this changes anything.
If this is an isomer of celexa wouldn’t this have bothered me while I was taking Celexa? Why now that I have a pill with less in it, start to effect me in this way. The way I understand it I have been taking the same thing for over 2 years previously.
Help! I spent today calling different pharmacies and physicians to see if this is something that they have ever heard of. Just my luck nobody has.
What should my next step be? See a Dermatologist to clear this stuff up or change back to Celexa.
And why is it that when you start your conversation out with a health professional about this sort of a problem, that the fist thing that they suggest is go off your antidepressant to see if that is truly the culprit. I wish that people would learn that if I could, don’t you think that I would? I am not taking these because I want to, it is because I need to. I am a glob of hair and tears without those pills. I have seen it, it is not pretty.
Thanks,
Nipsi
