effexor works for me

Posted by Kai on February 11, 2002, at 14:06:34

Effexor has really worked for me. I no longer feel that I am on the outside of life. I can sleep at night and get up in the morning (instead of spending days and weeks in bed). Without having to fight and control my disease all of the time, I am able to enjoy people.
If I have to stay on effexor, that is fine with me. I am 42 years old; I have had 16 jobs since I was 18. I have moved every one to three years (new city, new state, new country). I have tried to run away from depression and "change" my life so many times.
My sister has diabetes, she injects herself with insulin twice a day to live. I take effexor for the same reason.
I take 225 mg xr a day. I do have very interesting dreams. I had some side effects in the beginning (nausea, dizzy, insomnia). I took ambien to sleep in the beginning. I have lost weight, I am eating really well and exercising though- I am not trapped in my house.
I read about effexor before I started it. I talked it over with my dr. I knew that it was for MAJOR depression, I knew about the side effects and the withdrawl (why would I stop something that works?). I had previously used a lot of Prozac. I see my wonderful therapist regularly, and my psychiatrist too. This is not a drug for mildly depressed people. It is for very sick people. I am grateful that it works for me.
