In reply to Ginkgo biloba experience?, posted by JDavid on January 15, 2002, at 17:37:54
I don't want to throw cold water on your idea but the reason ginko biloba has an energising effect is due to its blood-thinning properties. Blood doesn't clot as easily & blood flow is supposed to be increased to the brain. It can be dangerous if you already have normal - low blood clotting ability. One patient was reported to have almost died during an operation for not mentioning to the surgeon that they used ginko biloba. It needs to be stopped a couple of weeks before surgery or even tooth extraction.
My own opinion (& I don't mind if others disagree) but just a little aerobic exercise every day or two will boost blood circulation to the brain far better with no side-effects.
