Xanax doesn't seem to have any chiral centers, and thus no enantiomers. In fact, there is only one sp3 hybridized carbon, and it has two H's.
Problems in this synthesis are related to regioselectivity and not stereospecificity. Really, the FDA should be contacted about this poor generic drug. Testing generics is one of the easiest things they do, and they have a large staff of analytical chemists to evaluate this sort of thing.
