In reply to drug poop out - MUST READ!!!, posted by Emmah on June 24, 2001, at 9:18:04
Thanks for this valuable information and link. I read about the poop out situation in a book and it has me concerned, since I think it happened to me (was on Paxil for years, then it seemed to stop working). My doctors say I MUST find another A-D that works (tried one, didn't work, am now trying another) to get stabilized, but once I'm feeling back to myself, I will make every effort to wean off. Thanks again for the info!

> Make no mistake there is only one place the body gets the things it needs to build Serotonin and norepinephrine, from your food (or food supplements). Drugs used for neurotransmitter deficiency merely move neurotransmitters from one place to the next inside the nervous system effectively tricking the body into thinking it has more of the neurotransmitters serotonin and/or norepinephrine. The vary act of taking drugs which redistribute neurotransmitters, in the long run, can further deplete the neurotransmitter problem. Doctors for years have seen cases and heard stories of patients on antidepressants who initially did well and then one day literally woke up to find that the drugs were no longer working. Depletion was the problem."
