In reply to Prozac: Can I go from 40 mg to 60 mgs? Help!, posted by Joy on June 6, 2001, at 13:29:57
I think that a dosage increase might be the right thing to do. Especially if your depression is returning. But if your depression is not returning, and it's just that you get ticked off too easily, then it's a harder decision.
Another option is to augment the Prozac with another drug such as Wellbutrin, Buspar, or Lithium.
> I've been at 40 mgs of Prozac now with my pdocs approval over 3 months and was at 20 mgs 4 weeks before that. 40 mgs has worked well for me, but I'm starting to get that 'old self' feeling like getting ticked off at so many things. It's hard to 'go with the flow' and I was doing so well. Should I try going to 50 or 60 mgs; I know people take that dose, but the higher the dose I guess the more side effects though I'm okay with the 40 mgs [little sexual side effects]. I take Xanax at night for insomnia. Anybody have any thoughts. I don't see my pdoc for 6 weeks and I called his office to leave a message, but has dose increase helped anyone like 40 mg helped me from 20 mg. I was feeling pretty good. Now, I'm not sure. I don't want to mess up my relationship or my job.
