Cyclothymia and treatment

I was just diagnosed with Cyclothymia and social anxiety. I am now taking Xanax and Neurontin. Has anybody had any experience with either of these medications? I am not sure of what to expect. What are the side effects? Your in put would be great. Thanks. I
