Hmm, how bout darvocet or darvon. These have a much lower 'high' associated with them but can still be addictive. I've heard that they really don't kill pain as well as codeine, hydro, oxy etc but you would be less likely to want to take more and more (like I get) due to the fact that they are extremely toxic at even 3-4 times the normal dose. Tough call, but make it a goal to not become reliant on any opiate (synthetic or otherwise). Talwin is a bigtime synthetic opiate with high addiction potential so kinda be careful with that one (it is fairly different chemically but acts very similar to opioids.
