Sanity Check - Potential Interactions?

Posted by Billb on July 14, 2000, at 12:04:06

I have been taking Paxil for several months for social anxiety and it has helped a little. However, when I went from 20 mg. to 40 mg. I started to have difficulty sleeping. My doctor prescribed trazodone (spelling?) to help with the sleep and this really helped. Getting a good night sleep really helped reduce my anxiety. However, I was drowsy until about 1 PM the next after taking the trazodone. Then I added adrafinil. After about 3 weeks of adrafinil I started feeling somewhate better with the social anxiety, sleeping ok, and feeling more alert during the day. My doctor also prescribed Buspar several months ago but I stopped taking after 3 weeks. My question, to finally get to the point, is:

Is it an ok combination to be taking Paxil, adrafinil and trazodone together? Any other drugs to stay away from while I am taking this combination? I don't intend to take Buspar but would there be a problem adding this?

Any advice would be appreciated. I have been so touched reading PB and seeing so many thoughtfull and caring people helping others. Gives me hope. Thanks again!
