I've tried Adrafinil and liked it overall. I found some interesting information on it that basically says it has antidepressant properties far superior to Prozac or tricyclics. It is prescribed in some parts of Europe as an antidepressant, especially in the elderly for its mind-sharpening characterisitcs and renewed interest in activities and hobbies. It also said that the antidepressant effects become most apparent after 3 weeks of use. It works basically by stimulating the NE alpha1 receptors.
Unfortunately I discovered a side effect I didn't appreciate. As with an strong NE drug, it causes constriction. This was most bothersome because my 'vital parts' became pathetically shriveled up, and it made erection difficult to achieve.
I got a wonderful kick and a great mood from it on my first day, which then seemed to fade over the next few days. I was prepared to give it a few weeks, but had to stop early due to the impotence side effects. It made my mind very sharp too. I could breeze right through a tough crossword puzzle that would have normally been challenging. Wish I could have continued. Those damn pesky sexual side effects.
