I have found it somewhat useful. One very big problem is finding a therapist who is really well trained in the method and who has the patience to really stick with versions of CT that have been shown effective in studies where therapists are monitored and have to follow fairly specific manuals. Being told that you do not have to gain everybody's approval may be neither therapeutic nor a revelation. Finding the when where and how of the specific images sensations and thoughts that get you down and using efective techniques to be aware of themand anticipate them and get rid of them is another matter. i suggest getting in touch with the American Psychological Association or a good university psych dept with a strong clinical program. And that is no guarantee--the desire to carry on a normal conversation seems more than many therapists can resist. They should sell insurance.
